In 1938, they were reduced to only 18 birds in the Aransas-Wood Buffalo flock and only 11 remaining in the non-migratory Louisiana flock. By 1950, the Louisiana flock was gone. Since there were only two birds in captivity when the Louisiana flock became extinct, its likely that the genetics of the non-migratory flock are lost forever.

These chimps are currently at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s New Iberia Research Center. I just love the language used by the Research Center's spokesperson. I just love the language used by the Research Center's spokesperson. {Dr. Videos showed mistreatment of the lab animals.

The plight of these birds inspired her, along with a handful of other concerned individuals, to do everything they could to save them, and by April of 1971 International Bird Rescue Research Center (now known as International Bird Rescue) was incorporated as a non-profit organization.

Then I read more about what's happening at the New Iberia Research Center in Louisiana. This is a link to a recent scandal at a primate center in Louisiana. And researching the company she works for makes me wonder whether the clinical trials she sells actually include animal experiments. She supports this.
