I have managed to see 4 Warbling Vireos at the same time, 3 Nashville Warblers , 3 Yellow-rumped Warblers , and 2 Wilson’s and Orange-crowned Warblers. Synchronized swimming, courtesy of a Nashville Warbler. Shortly afterwards, a different, still-dry, Nashville Warbler got distracted from the task at hand.

On any given day I can count on seeing Wilson’s, Yellow-rumped (Audubon’s) , Nashville , and Orange-crowned Warblers. But in late spring, I could easily see two or three dozen in a single day, if I paid enough attention. In January, the showiest birds tend to be our migratory warblers.

Hot Times at the Old Watering Hole

Among the constant winter visitors to my garden are several Warblers: Wilson’s , Yellow-rumped (Audubon’s) , Orange-crowned , Nashville , and Black-throated Gray. Nashville Warbler. Winter, of course, is our season for receiving many migratory species. A male Indigo Bunting has been an especially welcome visitor this year.

The flowers also attracted quite a few Nashville Warblers , Orange-crowned Warblers , and Hooded Orioles. Migratory Rufous Hummingbirds brought up the rear… …along with a single Mexican Violetear that I was able to see, although a couple more sang from above.
