When taking the issue to simplest common denominator, spaying/neutering is essentially exercising human dominance over non-human animals. But my stance is also categorized under Gray Matters because, in my perfect world, we wouldn't be spaying or neutering anybody.

Most shelter animals are spayed or neutered, have been treated for worms, and have at least their first set of shots. It can be preorded right now via Amazon, and should be hitting shelves in bookstores on March 9th. Good for You: Adopting an orphaned animal keeps it from having to be euthanized.

Flex is a handsome, neutered male, red fawn greyhound (currently under 60 pounds). One wound (the one on his front right leg) was to the bone. Dogs they can not place in foster care or find adoptive homes for are euthanized after 14 days by county ordinance. Their shelter is full. He has been vetted and is healing nicely.

She has a new book out (which I am reading right now) called One Good Dog. A feral kitten captured and neutered by a small non-profit, somewhat militant organization, was on display at our local Massachusetts Society Prevention of Cruelty Association branch, which often took these feral cats in the hope of finding homes for them.

The original diagnosis was severe nerve root compression at L7/S1, and I bet if we did an MRI right now we'd find not only that, but some kind of injury further up in the thoracic region due to semi-regular hopping. As for Project Treadstone, after several false starts, trapping, spaying and neutering will resume next week.

Project Treadstone If anyone in Palm Beach County wants to get involved in the Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) of feral cats, now is the time, as the county's Spay Shuttle is back in business (but for a whopping $40/cat rather than the original $15), and Pahokee ($25/cat) is open as well. Of the 20 cats TNR'd so far I've had to pay about $150.

They have been so successful in suckering cities and other municipalities into believing that they can solve their feral cat problems through Trap-Neuter-Return (T-N-R) that now citizens of those towns have had their eyes (and their noses) opened to what happens when the inmates run the asylum. Pity the poor souls at Alley Cat Allies.
