Be careful if you cross the feral cat freaks – they might protest your business, sue you, and drive you to suicide. Such was the sad fate of a New York City veterinarian who refused to release a stray cat she treated back to a feral cat freak who planned to release the cat back into a feral cat colony. News cats New York City'
For those of you who’ve been following the drama unfolding in Kentucky regarding a sandhill crane hunt, there’s bad news. Thousands of letters and emails of protest apparently fell on deaf ears. Kentucky’s wildlife offices have been flooded with protests, whether written, telephoned or emailed.
This protest against animal research happened last Thursday. Tags: Cambridge University UK animal research protests. Apparently, they were "disrupting university business" and security guards were called in. This link has a video.
So, while I understand this protester's convictions, I vehemently disagree with her methods. I am a fervent opponent of animal research, but stalking, or any kind of threatening action, just doesn't work. It simply creates sympathy and bad pr for the rest of us. They do no good.
Ringling Brothers is coming to Kent, WA, and I'm happy to know the Northwest Animal Rights Network will be protesting (we live in nearby Seattle by the way.).
April Jean Evans was a NASA engineer, but resigned her position in protest over radiation experiments on monkeys. It was a PETA protest outside her work location that alerted her to the experiments in the first place.showing that any action in defense of animals may have impacts on people that we don't even realize.
I am a total supporter of this protest. While there may be responsible and loving breeders out there, they are only contributing to an out-of-control supply problem. There are too many animals out there and not enough homes. Why don't they stop making things worse? It's plain supply and demand.
PETA protesters were in front of SeaWorld-Orlando where two orcas are now pregnant. The father in both cases is the same orca that killed its trainer a few months ago.
PETA organized protests to stop these stupid radiation experiments on spider monkeys. The purpose is to determine how astronauts would fare on the way to Mars. We can't even get out of Afghanistan and we're going to Mars. Give me an effing break.
The protest happened on Wednesday. I'm late on this one. But it's worth noting that someone out there took some action on this gruesome story. And that's what I like about PETA and why I recently became a member for the first time. They are fast, organized, committed and they get attention.
I'm glad there are exceptions like these protesters. It happened last Saturday the 4th of February. Mexico often has such an abominable attitude towards animals that it's easy to paint all citizens that way.
Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) will be staging protests at this fur store in Everett, WA. The company is Terry L. Fieck Furs. Here is their idea of a fur coat. Nice and GREEN! Literally and sarcastically.
MEXICO CITY – Animal rights activists staged a protest against the sale of pets in Mexico City, urging residents to adopt dogs and other animals instead of buying them. Late on this story. I copied the full article from the Latin American Herald Tribune.
Animal welfare activists protested the transfer. A federal contract covering the chimps expires next year. The NIH proposed sending them to Texas to be used in research aimed at finding a hepatitis C vaccine. The chimps have been free from testing at the Alamogordo Primate Facility at Holloman Air Force Base since 2001.
In case you missed the latest news cycle, the seven armed antigovernment protesters thugs pictured above were acquitted last Thursday of federal conspiracy and weapons charges stemming from that takeover of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge last winter.
In other news, PETA received more publicity for their anti seal hunting campaign when one of their protesters was hit in the face with a pie. A PETA anti seal hunt activist was hit in the face with a pie in Newfoundland. This after a PETA activist hit Canada Fisheries Minister Gail Shae with a pie.
Both groups will be protesting the seal hunt using the Olympic torch ceremony as the backdrop. PETA and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are holding a joint news conference this week, and I would like to offer you an exclusive advance scoop on it.
Excellent news! PCRM has led the criticism of these experiments, working with members of Congress, former researchers, activists, and even a former NASA engineer who resigned her post in protest of this cruel and unnecessary use of animals. Received this today from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
Here in Seattle, NARN (Northwest Animal Rights Network) has been staging protests at a local restaurant that serves foie gras. Having said that though, I see that these types of protests have had an effect in the San Diego area. They've caught a lot of grief over it. I can't say I've always felt it was the best use of time.
From their news release: Despite repeated assaults by frustrated and increasingly violent Japanese whalers, the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin continues to stand guard behind the Japanese floating abattoir called the Nisshin Maru. I admit I haven't been paying attention to what has been going on with the Japanese whaling fleet.
From the press release: “To characterize protest and speech as terrorist activities is ludicrous,” said Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) cooperating attorney Matthew Strugar. The AETA is so broad and unclear it could be used to suppress lawful protests and boycotts by any activists across the spectrum, no matter what the issue.
21, 2007: A group of 20 protesters demonstrated outside of a UC Berkeley professor's home in El Cerrito. 20, 2008: A group of five protesters tried to forcibly enter the Westside home of a UC Santa Cruz researcher during a child's birthday party. Crimes arrested activists are accused of Oct. Some wore bandanas to hide their faces.
From Oregonlive. Animal rights activists stretched a 60-foot banner across the Hawthorne Bridge {Saturday} morning targeting the Oregon National Primate Research Center at OHSU. In support of National Primate Liberation Week, the Portland Animal Defense League hung a banner that read "OHSU: Stop Killing Monkeys Now!"
Six members of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty were convicted at a 2006 trial in New Jersey of conspiracy to violate the 1992 Animal Enterprise Protection Act. The law, since revised, aimed to protect animal research laboratories from illegal, sometimes violent protests.
These people are protesters, not terrorists. From the New York Times' Green Blog. Lesley Hill Peters, suggested that the protesters could also face terrorism-related charges. The New Orleans Joint Terrorism Task Force “is looking into the matter,” she said. This is just a tool to silence criticism of large corporations.
Although 40 Chinese animal rights groups have protested, they don't really have any political or financial clout to change anything. In order to offset the loss of the seal product market in Europe, Canada has made a deal with China. I'm not surprised. China as a whole still doesn't have a national conscience about these issues.
He planted petrol bombs at Oxford University to protest plans to build an animal research laboratory. A British animal rights activist is starting a prison sentence after being found guilty of (I think) conspiracy to commit arson. I agree that the animal research lab sucks, but anything that threatens harm does not help the cause.

She's referring to the pie thrown in the face of Fisheries Minister Gail Shea by a PETA member protesting the Canadian seal hunt. It's pretty scary that a Liberal MP would actually question whether a pie in the face is terrorism. I'm wondering whether the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act in the US is making the rounds of Canadian politicians.
Likewise, birders rallied against the occupation in several protests around the state on January 19th, sponsored by the Audubon Society of Portland. This video was published by Backcountry Hunters & Anglers during the refuge occupation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYouXzAez-I. v=dYouXzAez-I.

Five activists represented by the Center for Constitutional Rights filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston, asking that the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act be struck down as unconstitutional because it has a chilling effect on lawful protest activities I wish them luck!

The ministry said: “This is a serious step forward to protect Russia’s biological diversity. This decision was made largely thanks to public environmental organisations which took an active position on this issue.”
PETA was labeled a "security threat group" in April 2005, and by July police were looking into a tip that the group had learned about a failing chicken farm in Kent County and planned on "protesting or stealing the chickens."
Sea Shepherd doesn’t protest, Sea Shepherd intervenes against illegal activity. But Mr Watson is unfazed by the outcome in Qatar. The fact is, they’re exceeding their quota limits in the Mediterranean and they’re doing that every year. So it doesn’t affect our campaign,” he says.
She's accusing him of being a "monkey mutilator" and plans protests with other animal-rights activists at the UF football game today and at the researcher's neighborhood in the coming weeks. Wildwood-based activist Camille Marino runs the "Negotiation is Over!" website, where she posted the researcher's address and a picture of his home.
They stopped after protests from animal rights groups, such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Roadside bombs are the top killer of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Did you know this? car companies used live animals, including pigs, for crash tests until the early 1990s.
