Ali Iyoob is looking to break the NorthCarolina Big Year record of 351 this year. Greg Cantrell is doing a New Jersey Big Year, hoping for 300 species, and raising funds for the New Jersey Audubon Citizen Science program. Also, big year blogs are one of my favorite types of blog to read.
Ali Iyoob is sitting pretty at 230 species in his NorthCarolina big year during which he is trying to break the state record of 351. He better watch out though, because another birder in NorthCarolina also has reported 230 species so far this year! As of the end of March they had already reached a whopping 652 species
One bird, the authors discovered, flew 5,000 miles nonstop from southern Brazil to NorthCarolina. The three co-authors of Life Along the Delaware Bay are scientists who know how to write about science without jargon or pretense.
