Not all that rare, just shy but you might see it on a quite walk in the Monteverde Reserve. Or, one might even appear at the Colibri Cafe. Great Curassow. Purple-throated Mountain-gem.

If I’m not mistaken, it took more than twenty years for Ridgely’s Guide to the Birds of Panama to come out in a Spanish edition. Book placement in schools would be targeted to sites in the vicinity of national parks and other protected areas which act as a stronghold for a large percentage of the country’s precious avifauna.
