In Australia, ornithologists have finally gotten their hands on a Night Parrot , the first such capture in more than 100 years. By tagging the Parrot and monitoring the area with remote cameras, scientists hope to learn more about this species and how to keep it safe.

Mealy Parrots made their presence known, and we were treated with excellent views of Blue-headed Parrot that flew into a tree we were already examining. Familiar, but beautiful regardless: Blue-headed Parrot Another small parrot species landed on a tree in the distance.

A Jamaican Tody on Ecclesdown Road Ecclesdown Road is one of the best sites to see the declining and rare Jamaican Blackbird Crested Quail-doves are most active at dusk and dawn. These goods, purchased with Mexican silver, would then be transported overland through Mexico City, and shipped from Veracruz to Spain. As if the Chachalaca and Magpie-Jay noises weren’t enough, there were also many pairs of White-fronted Parrots screeching as they flew overhead, though I never managed a photo of those.

Taxi v SMRT – The SMRT is the excellent, clean, safe, reliable, cheap transport system of Singapore. The birding is not exceptional, but you can easily see some of Singapore’s and South-east Asia’s more common species and it does throw up the occasional jewel. My favourite site in Singapore is Paser Ris. and take 23 minutes).

The capital is San Juan, an important center of Caribbean culture and transportation. The USVI are smaller and have fewer habitats and, as a result, fewer bird species. Puerto Rico has a checklist of 269 species, 207 of which are migratory and the USVI has a checklist of 149 species, 124 of which are migratory.

We were then able to walk down Upper Thomson Road and get public transport back to our hotel. About halfway between Marymount Road and Upper Thomson Road we had the pleasure of sitting and observing Blue-crowned Hanging Parrots. Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot. Sign for Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. Common Gliding Lizard.
