Mike Freiberg grew up in Philadelphia, PA, where his family introduced him to the world of birding. One of his most memorable birding experiences was the six months spent in Northeast Brazil performing research on a new species of bird called the Araripe Manakin. Over time the hobby grew into a career. in Animal Ecology.

Huntingdon used mostly mice and rats , but also some dogs, monkeys, fish and guinea pigs , in its research in New Jersey. It was a 2-1 decision by the US Court of Appeals.
