The only shelter is at the Sailing Club and there are also picnic tables there too. Walking around the reservoir is a slow process if you are interested in birds, because there is so much to see. To circumnavigate the reservoir the trail is approximately 3.6 kilometres/2.25 miles and the entire trail is flat and easy going.

It is a sheltered area with numerous picnic tables for the people visiting and bird feeders for the feathered variety of visitors. As I mentioned earlier, this nature reserve is a work in process and there are areas that are still a working quarry. Our first stop was the area marked Wild Bird Cafe next to the car-park.

The whole process had taken four hours. I didn’t have high hopes for Fizzle’s survival, but I called animal control and learned that they had taken Fizzle to a shelter about ten miles away.
