Puffin Trip in Maine

10,000 Birds

When Daisy started talking about a family trip to Maine for the long Memorial Day Weekend I had one thing on my mind: puffins! Atlantic Puffins are easier to see, and see well, in Maine than anywhere else in the United States. I spotted two puffins on the way out though they were distant and took off before we got close.

Notable Mentions: Digiscoper of the Year 2011

10,000 Birds

My colleague Michaela absolutely loves Puffins and so I could not resist including this photo of a full-frontal puffin. Anyone who has tried to photograph the Blue Rock Thrush will know that it is not all that easy to get at eye-level with the bird; and finding a way to get the subtle blues to show is a serious challenge.
