Despite being alone, it appeared to associate with the sheep in much the same way that it might with a flock of its own kind. So who is this enigmatic leader of birds that started as a sheep and now leads flocks across great distances?

In 1954, with stringent controls on the grazing of domestic animals, a herd of 20 Desert Bighorn Sheep were re-introduced and have flourished. The population is now estimated to be at over 500.
