Thieves have stolen two monkeys from an enclosure at a wildlife park, police said today. The female squirrel monkeys were snatched after raiders broke into the Cotswold Wildlife Park, near Burford, Oxfordshire, last night. Tags: wildlife crime monkeys. I can't imagine the trauma the older monkey is going through.

These are the neighborhood raptors that make do, even thrive, by preying on the wildlife of an urban landscape. Hasn’t happened yet but sometimes I see resident Rufous-naped Wrens, Red-billed Pigeons , and a Squirrel Cuckoo or two. At least it seems that way. So far, the Gray Hawk was the best of the Cecropia sightings.

While larger animals like deer and elk are usually able to escape the fire’s path, smaller animals like squirrels, foxes and snakes are not always so lucky. On that first trip, I even saw some of the last 500 (Asiatic) Lions !

A wildlife rehabilitator friend, newly licensed, recently called to ask if he could feed a recovering Turkey Vulture anything besides defrosted rodents. This isn’t too surprising I live a hundred metres away from Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, and birds spill out. David Attenborough compared them to squirrels in his section on them in the Life of Birds.
