The real upside is that it is right by my house and the Tawny Owls occasionally stray into my oak tree at night. After a lot of backing and forthing, the vendor accepted our offer and the wood is to become a trust to be protected in perpetuity. When I was young, it was the only western hummer to routinely stray east in the winter months. But if you did want to come visit… The Rufous Hummingbird is best known for tenacity and toughness and widespread wandering. It breeds into Alaska. My yard is nicer than Alaska (sorry Claire.)

There's a stray dog problem in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico. There are about 70,000 stray dogs roaming San Luis Rio Colorado in northern Mexico. The town has become so overrun with dogs, that the government began offering a tax exemption of $17 per stray that was offered for euthanasia. The solution? Sarcasm there of course.

Most amusing was when this Pied-billed Grebe would stray too close. Then an American Coot charged in to see if it would taste good. It didn’t. I really couldn’t get over the looks I was getting and I took over three hundred pictures. The Red-necked Grebe did not like that one bit.

Black-headed Gulls somehow managed to build 31 nests on a few dead tree trunks left in the water, but Common Terns require bare soil and not having any on inner dykes – which were a safe haven, they build 16 nests on the higher outer dyke, a place exposed to foxes and stray dogs.

They also put up a tent to collect donations, such as pet food, cages, collars and other pet supplies, for stray and abandoned animals kept at the shelters.
