About a year ago I posted information about the launch of a new stem cell therapy for dogs ( Vet-Stem ). This therapy uses adult stem cells to help injured dogs and dogs suffering from arthritis. Since the launch Vet-Stem has treated more that 1800 dogs and more than 5,000 animals total.

No, their suffering will be far more drawn out. Humar, pictured on the right, is just one animal to have suffered this traditional, yet ineffective treatment, to horrifying effect. For many years, Humar had carried heavy loads for his owner and was now suffering from arthritis. His suffering didn’t stop there.

You may recall that when I took him to the vet (and at that time I thought he was a she) I asked them to check him out and they said he looked fine. So his suffering was basically prolonged because he looked good on that one day, and because testing is done only if there are symptoms. He didn't look at all comfortable.

This is a great product for dogs who suffer from stress and anxiety! This would be perfect for travel, or trips to the vet. It’s great for walks, vet visits, ect. He had a corn removed Thursday morning, left the vet looking just fine and happy to be rid of the pain, and by 5:00 pm yesterday, after we were told that he had a less than 5% chance of survival with days of intensive treatment, and after consulting friends who are vets, we decided to euthanize him.

Statistics come to life in the suffering of one dove or one mockingbird, the one needlessly stricken and dying for the sake of a personal choice. The vet confirmed pain, injury and infection from her life on the streets, common afflictions for stray cats. With respect to the stray cat Puck, we eventually learned her name was Jackie.
