Another really good feature of Singapore is the excellent public transport system. Javan Mynas , Olive-backed Sunbirds , Spotted Doves , Rock Doves , Zebra Doves , Common Tailorbirds , Blue-tailed Bee-eaters , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Pink-necked Green Pigeons , House Sparrows and Black-naped Orioles were in that location.

As with anywhere in Singapore, it is easy to access by public transport. We also encountered a Large Hawk Cuckoo , but I was unable to photograph it. Snipe watching us watching it! There were numerous other bird species in the area that we encountered at various other locations around Singapore.

Taxi v SMRT – The SMRT is the excellent, clean, safe, reliable, cheap transport system of Singapore. A taxi from the airport to Singapore Botanic Gardens could cost S$20 – 30 depending on traffic, so bring at least S$60 ( Exchange rate calculator ). We were then able to walk down Upper Thomson Road and get public transport back to our hotel. We could then continue through the park and cross Upper Thomson Road and enter Lower Peirce Reservoir Park and do the trails there. Sign for Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. We were surprised that it had taken until this day to find Coconut Lorikeets.

Part of the world they wanted to transport was natural. One such individual was Sir George Grey, who liberated many animals on his estate (mercifully on an island), including wildebeest, monkeys, zebras, wallabies, deer, cassowaries, emu and kookaburras. There were no mammals, little game, and not many birds either.
