Around 2011 or 2012, I discovered an online forum of a rather select group of Mexican birders. I could not test this theory in 2024, as by that month the lake had disappeared. As an added point in this bird’s favor on my favorites list, this photo of mine is currently on the Merlin app. Chestnut-sided Shrike-Vireo : I get game.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of July 2012)

For my new book, due out in 2012 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, I’ve been researching sandhill crane hunting. Hunters will be required to pass and ID test. It won’t take the birds long to figure out where they won’t be shot. Canada Geese and Crows can figure it out, so can Cranes.
