Barnacle Goose is my choice for the next bird, because we discovered one lone bird among all of the hundreds of Canada Geese , Greylag Geese and Eurasian Wigeon at Freiston Shore and it was as if it was a test to see if we would notice “the odd one out”! Many sad and unfortunate things occurred in 2016, but the birding was good. I think this might be my best bird of 2016. I tested the waters before my California pelagic, with a brief Atlantic Ocean voyage, a whale watching trip from Montauk, N.Y. It was a good birding year. This is a male bird, of course. 3) Greater Adjutant.

Although it is only 117 kilometres (73 miles) to Timber Creek we were driving slowly and not at the Northern Territory speed limit of 130 km/hr, which is the highest in Australia.For some years in the past the speed was “unlimited” and was a testing ground for new fast cars! Our first encounter of a Northern Fantail for 2016!
