This little Eastern Screech-Owl arrived sometime thereafter, and, no doubt, has regretted it every day for the last six months. A woman walking her dog discovered the owl and alerted the farmer, who called a local wildlife hotline. At first Lisa Acton, the New York rehabilitator who took the owl in, thought he was dead.

The Kentucky Ornithological Society and the Beckham Bird Club have both come out strongly against the hunting season. of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered.
