And then I read THE CHINA STUDY and was shocked to learn how unhealthy the Standard American Diet is--even cow's milk, which I thought I should be having three servings of per day! Tags: Activism Current Affairs Ethics Language. There has to be something I can do to reduce all of the suffering of the animals we use as food, I thought.

The underlying premise is that you can know what is right (such as me knowing what's right then eating cow flesh in the form of filet mignon for a year), but that by no means will necessarily manifest in your behavior. This, now, is a very practical matter, where all measures we take must be tested empirically on their consequences.

These sorts of tests have been done in many species and it has always been assumed (hoped), that what they found in the little white cages at the back of the zoology department had some wonderful relevance to what happened in the real world. So the human equivalent of frog in a bowl might be. Item B is a plastic red frog.
