Very shallow and short slalom kayaks are good if you want to explore backwaters, paddling through inundated riparian forests, left and right around the trees, or below low branches of half fallen, rotting trunks hollowed by woodpeckers. I heard it, all right. So, I acquired a new PFD, a multi-pocket kayak fishing vest.

I bought a new rucksack yesterday and the first thing I checked when I brought it home was, how easily my spotting scope with a mounted window clamp fits in – test passed with flying colours. What purpose rucksack did I choose? Well, that tells a lot about me: it’s a 40l plane carry-on type (which I will carry on as my day-pack, too).

of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered. Hunters and fish and wildlife departments having a stake in Sandhills is a great thing. We can fight them back in Kentucky, too. Kentucky Dept.

A Preview… About the Author Mike Mike is a leading authority in the field of standardized test preparation, but what he really aspires to be is a naturalist. Water levels are right but the waders are still very scarce. Blue Tailed BeeEater, White Bellied Sea Eagle, White Rumped Shama were other ones I particularly enjoyed.
