With such a background, my decision to test the new birding frontier of Swarovski 12×42 extra-wide FOV binoculars didn’t appear strange at all – to me, at least. What do you think? Are 12s right for birding?

testing a vaginal gel on monkeys. Now this is pretty gross. I understand it's for HIV prevention, but still. Disturbing. The gel was applied vaginally to three pigtailed macaques twice a week for seven weeks. Thirty minutes after each gel application, the animals were exposed to SHIV, for a total of 14 "challenges."

As soon as the test began, so did the monotonous cheeping. My conjecture was confirmed three hours into the test when that streaky little bugger hopped out into the open. At an auspicious time, I enlisted the test takers to help me corral the critter, which I then summarily ejected from the premises. I blame Baby Bird Week.
