As usual, my experience with such boardwalks was somewhat underwhelming, as was Eshowe as a whole, but there were still a few birds worth mentioning at the forest and in the area surrounding Eshowe. At vulture family gatherings, it is always a bit of a bother for the organizers to cater to the needs of the Palm Nut Vulture.

These chimps are currently at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s New Iberia Research Center. The Humane Society wants 9 chimps that are not being "used" as part of experiments to be released to a sanctuary. I just love the language used by the Research Center's spokesperson. Videos showed mistreatment of the lab animals.

So this new research is very interesting, and we applaud the scientists for their work. These researchers carried out two different major efforts that in combination advance our understanding of the evolution of the bird beak. See: Four Wings Good Two Wings Better? So how did beaks evolve? Except, really, that hasn’t happened either.
