Like the tube-nosed birds, new world vultures detect the smells of rotting meat carried by the winds. And again, there is great variation amongst different species.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, “farm animals are regulated under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) only when used in biomedical research, testing, teaching and exhibition.
