In all European Union countries to the north and east of Serbia (except Romania), Turtle Doves are strictly protected. And that flight is illegal because EU legislation does not allow export of game meat from Serbia to EU. Since this spring’s revision of the European Red List, the Turtle Dove is listed as a vulnerable species.
