Dorj Ganbold is an ornithologist and professional illustrator.

Birding Inner Mongolia

Second note: Inner Mongolia has a land area larger than that of France and Germany combined, and I only spent one week there. So, to claim that I birded Inner Mongolia is a massive exaggeration. Then again, a certain local baseball tournament is named the “World Series”, so this kind of exaggeration seems to be widespread).

The best female strategy seems to be to mate with as many of the males as possible, as this means more help in feeding the chicks by all the potential fathers (I guess the fathers do not have easy access to paternity tests). BirdingAsia has a report on the first Rosy Pipit seen in Mongolia. Being wet seems to help, though.
