Bird Photography Equipment – Teleconverters for 7D and 5D MIII

10,000 Birds

I had read that this was not possible since the 2X raised the f stop by two-stops making it a 300 f/8. In this particular case this combination raised the f stop to 8, as expected, but the camera was able to focus. I tested this combination extensively and found that the 7D would focus but only under good light conditions.

Birding with 12s: Swarovski NL Pure 12×42

10,000 Birds

“I don’t know anyone else crazy enough to try 12s,” my friend answered when told that I am about to test NL Pure 12×42. Are 12s right for birding? Getting the Bill – Taste, Touch and Smell in Birds

10,000 Birds

Aptly called the tube-nosed birds, on account of their raised and highly visible nostrils, these species are able to hone in on oceanic food from several miles away, based on smell alone. New studies are beginning to show that smell may be an important part in these birds finding the right nest and/or partner under cover of darkness.

Earth Friendly Makeup - But What About Animals?

Critter News

The article talks about health and safety, but mentions nothing about whether these products are animal-tested. It doesn't even raise the issue as an eco-concern. Now, it may be that none of these brands are tested on animals (certainly not Sheila McCartney's Care right?),
