Being fully inoculated with AstraZeneca, I understood that with a digital vaccination certificate, I do not need any further tests to enter Costa Rica – something to recheck again!! Update: with the vaccination certificate, I need no testing. A field guide I’ll have to study on a long flight from Europe to San Jose.

Many gringos make their way to Baja California Sur every year, although the majority are probably heading to Cabo San Lucas to party and test the human limit of tequila endurance. For years I heard the estero at San Jose del Cabo was the place to go to see Belding’s Yellowthroat, another Baja endemic.

This beauty is fairly common in cloud forest, even on the volcanic slopes that overlook the urban conglomeration known as San Jose. Also a relief after trudging through rainforest and testing the sweat-wicking characteristics of field clothes on the Pacific coast. Some call it the Blue-throated Toucanet.
