To his credit, the farmer was distraught and offered to pay any vet bills which might ensue, and has since learned how to paint his trees with a lighter hand. There were no actual vet bills to pay, as the two vets consulted donated their time; but in terms of time and labor spent, this is a million-dollar owl.

I somehow became the non-vet, go-to person regarding dogs and diabetes, I suppose due to my frequent blogging about Violet Rays (left), my greyhound who has been through diabetes, blindness (then cataract replacement), glaucoma and retina detachment. My vet's other clients, however, often had the opposite problem, and hypoglycemia resulted.

But, any seizure your dog has should be reported to your vet in order to try to determine its cause. After a seizure, take your pet to the vet as soon as possible. It’s important to consider your pet’s blood sugar levels when getting vet check ups. Vomiting may also occur. Liver Disease or Kidney Failure.

When the clock ticked over to business hours, it occurred to me to call my vet’s office, and they were able to give me the current phone number of a wildlife rehabilitator — but it was too late. They were negative for rabies, and were currently being tested for poison exposure. Animal Control was on the way.

You may recall that when I took him to the vet (and at that time I thought he was a she) I asked them to check him out and they said he looked fine. And if he looked fine he wouldn't have been tested. And if he didn't look fine and was tested he probably would have been euthanized. cats, many of whom are pregnant.
