The indoor workshop started with a Covid self-testing (where everyone was negative), followed by lectures on the Swarovski company, its ethos and products. The next day we had an outdoor workshop and a chance to test the toys. At the end of the workshop we all went birding, to further test the glasses of our choice.

The workshops , and mentoring and networking events are not particularly relevant, and I skipped them. Rather, it was seeing a large group of dedicated and passionate professionals proposing and testing theories and generating mountains of data about birds.

I give a lot of workshops all over the country. After you have your scope and your camera adapter, take that equipment to a camera store and test away. I had read Mike McDowell’s blog and got an idea of the camera I wanted and could afford, but kept an open mind while we tested different cameras with the scope.
