The bodies of seven sea lions with bullet wounds were recently found on the Nisqually River. The animal protection group Seal Sitters says a necropsy showed that the sea lion had suffered a shark bite and had twisted intestines in addition to a bullet wound. On Monday, a sea lion was found dead on West Seattle’s Lincoln Park beach.

A recent arrival at the Nairobi nursery was an elephant named Murka, rescued near Tsavo National Park with a spear lodged deep between her eyes and gaping spear and axe wounds along her back and sides. Her deep wounds were filled with maggots. A mobile vet unit was able to tranquilize her, clean her wounds, and extract the spear.

Dogs they can not place in foster care or find adoptive homes for are euthanized after 14 days by county ordinance. Their shelter is full. He has been vetted and is healing nicely.

It seemed whoever set the trap had ‘released’ the injured eagle upon finding him, as the bird could not have freed himself without the loss of the entire foot.

The survival of the aging Sheru, despite a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, has become an uplifting and soothing symbol of Mumbai's recovery to many of the city's anxious and angry citizens.
